As we all know, the manufacturing industry in general and the garment industry in particular, having to obtain a CSR certificate at the request of a customer before placing an order is the first essential condition to have. Especially in the context of deep integration into the international economy, the requirements to comply with CSR policies and certificates will be a huge advantage of an enterprise.
Understanding that, the Southern Textile and Garment Corporation - Vinatex (VSC) is always interested in conducting enterprise evaluation according to customer and international standards.
Although the above process is considered difficult and challenging, VSC's factories still strive to achieve these standards. Among them, Vinatex Can Tho Garment Factory, although just established in 2016, has undergone many assessments and achieved outstanding international certificates such as WRAP, SMETA, SCAN, FCCA, etc. GMP and has received other certificates according to the individual standards of each customer. Recently, Vinatex Can Tho had the opportunity to be the first factory in the expanded scope of the Better Work program when they expanded to the Can Tho area. This is a great opportunity and challenge for a Factory in Region 3 of Vietnam.

First, a brief overview of this program: Better Work Vietnam (BW) (sub-program of the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC)) was established in 2009, within the framework of the framework. Better Work Worldwide (BWG). With the aim of supporting the development and increasing competitiveness of the garment industry by promoting decent working conditions and respecting national laws, along with that, labor standards must be developed. declare and execute.
Starting with 49 factories, so far more than 800 businesses and nearly 1 million employees have participated and will continue to expand the scope further in the future. In addition, more than 60 international customers have also signed up to participate in this program. Currently, more than 440 businesses and nearly 750,000 employees are actively participating in the program.
General Director Nguyen Hung Quy - leadership of Southern Textile and Garment Corporation - Vinatex, once shared: “I feel very happy and proud that Can Tho branch has the opportunity to participate in the national program. It is also the first factory to participate in the neighboring factories located in the Southwest region, this is a big turning point that shows that our factory has initially participated in the big program of international standards. In my opinion, it is very difficult to pass the Better Work assessment, but if I pass, that is a good thing.”
Sharing the same spirit as Better Work, which defines the goal of “putting employees first”, the factory has been trying to improve daily based on the advice of Better Work Consultants and the Factory improvement team. . In addition to preparing CSR documents for the assessment and cleaning of the factory, the Factory also continues to train department heads so that they can deploy for workers to better understand compliance. safety requirements at work, making people aware of their rights and obligations. As we have emphasized above, grasping the psychology of employees is an art and you have to put yourself in the position of each person to partially understand. Therefore, Vinatex Can Tho has set up training sessions on human rights, on fairness and democracy, allowing workers to speak their mind. We consider this as a long-term and sustainable preparation, not just to participate in the assessment.
On the two-day evaluation, the Factory evaluation board was assessed to provide a quick, fairly complete profile, cool and clean factory. In addition, the assessors were also very enthusiastic to exchange as well as give very straightforward suggestions to help Can Tho better understand the points that were and have not been done to take appropriate corrective actions to improve the House. The machine is getting better and better as the name "better work".
Better Work does not refer to the assessment results as pass or fail, but they only record the problems found that the factory is lacking and record it in the report. The results will then be updated to the Better Work system. Next, the Factory itself will share the report with the customer they want on the Better Work system, the customer will be the one to review the report and evaluate it based on their own standards. level of acceptance or disapproval for placing orders in the Factory. This will take about 1 month for the final report and another 1 month for customer approval. On April 13, 2023, the customer informed that the Factory Better Work report had met their standards.
This is not only the initial success of Can Tho Vinatex Garment Factory, but also has great significance for the Southern Textile Corporation - Vinatex (VSC), a driving force, learning and international integration. economy, the first step for other major assessments later.
