In addition to fashion, Kawakubo also participates in graphic design, advertising, furniture in stores and considers it an integral part of the artistic creation career. Kawakubo's work appears in many exhibitions. More specifically, she was one of only two artists to have a solo exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (2017) as soon as she was alive.

“I am not an artist, engineer or designer. I just kept searching for things that never existed and introduced them to everyone. It's hard to discover something new without any compromise. I always struggle with conservative views. I remember Noguchi was rejected at Osaka World Fair in 1970 because of what he introduced "too new". I understand that feeling and are working harder, ”shared Rei Kawakubo.

America loves Chanel, Hollywood yearns for Chanel. With famous producer Samuel Goldwyn, Chanel is the only one who can replace a flashy Hollywood inspired design that is associated with life for stars, whether they appear on screen or on the street. Upon arriving in the United States, Chanel was welcomed by Greta Garbo and became the most interested topic at the time. Newspapers call this "meeting between two queens".

In the eyes of fashion lovers in the US right now, Chanel exudes a passion that is hard to resist both style and self-confidence and great humor. Despite the economic downturn, Chanel still succeeded in both sales and media effects. The list of her star customers must include Barbara Weeks, Madge Evans, Gloria Swanson, Marlene Dietrich, Elizabeth Taylor, Jane Fonda, Jean Seberg and even First Lady Jackie Kennedy. However, when Hollwood rejected her "too clean" designs, the "dress girl" did not compromise but chose to leave.

According to Vanity Fair, Chanel is the "first person to bring modern elements into fashion." In 1954, while the French musicians turned their backs on the return of 71-year-old NTK, fashion followers in the United States still gave her hope. "At 71, more than fashion, Gabrielle Chanel has created a revolution." In 1957, Neiman Marcus Fashion Award honored Chanel as the most influential NTK of the century.
