For employees to stick around for a long time

In 2023, the textile and garment industry aims to export 45-47 billion USD. This is quite a challenging figure in the context that the textile and garment industry is facing many difficulties and barriers coming from the world market as well as in the country. The number of orders is still sluggish due to reduced demand, along with the shortage of human resources, which is posing a difficult problem for enterprises in the garment industry. And to solve this problem, the garment industry needs to have strong and breakthrough strategies to overcome the difficulties and challenges ahead.

In the fourth quarter of 2022, the shortage of orders persisted in many enterprises, while the unit price also decreased. And yet, customers who place orders at businesses offer prices that are only 30-40% of the normal price. Except for some enterprises with long-term traditional customers, small and medium enterprises still have to struggle to maintain production.

However, entering 2023, right from the first months of the year, textile and garment enterprises have started with determination. According to many businesses, right after the Lunar New Year holiday, workers and employees have returned to work 100%. Enterprises also immediately embarked on recruiting more high-quality human resources with the aim of boosting production, improving quality and productivity to meet high-class orders from partners.

Notably, in the past time, the labor market situation is quite difficult, enterprises with a large workforce "jump" a lot. While, to be able to keep production stable, enterprises must make every effort to retain workers. “Human resources are a vital factor to ensure the survival and sustainable development of enterprises. Therefore, how to maintain a stable and highly skilled workforce to meet the new requirements is a problem that textile and garment enterprises must "take care of" at this time" - representative of a garment enterprise share. Therefore, according to this position, enterprises in the textile industry always attach great importance to the implementation of policies to care and take care of the material and spiritual life of employees.

Garment 10 Corporation is one of the enterprises that has been having many policies to take care of employees so that the workers of enterprises always feel secure and want to return to work after the Tet holiday. Accordingly, in order to create favorable conditions for employees working at the company in Hanoi to return to their hometown to celebrate Tet and return to work smoothly, right in January, the Executive Committee of the 10th Garment Trade Union organized shuttle bus to pick up and drop off staff. A total of 159 employees and their family members were transported by May 10's gratitude car to their hometown to celebrate Tet and return to the Corporation to work.

This concern and care creates excitement and peace of mind for employees. Right after the Lunar New Year holiday, 12,000 employees of Garment 10 company soon returned to production, aiming for a revenue of VND 4,500 billion.

Mr. Than Duc Viet - General Director of Garment 10 Corporation does not deny that in 2022, Garment 10 as well as many other garment enterprises face many difficulties, especially the number of orders decreases, the working hours are reduced. do. However, clearly defining the target for this year, especially with the whole textile and garment industry reaching an export figure of 45-47 billion USD, Garment 10 has been trying to come up with many measures to attract workers. highly qualified and skilled workers as well as promoting market research; develop new product lines in line with production capacity, workers' skills...

Currently, the head office of Garment 10 in Hanoi is recruiting from 600-700 sewing workers and nearly 100 indirect workers; in which priority is given to highly skilled workers. The good news is, signals from the markets are very positive right from the beginning of the year with businesses receiving many orders.

Not only at Garment 10 Corporation, large textile and garment enterprises are also in need of recruiting workers to meet the forecasted recovery demand in the coming time. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Duong - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hung Yen Garment Corporation - JSC (Hugaco) shared, in recent years, Hugoco and units in the whole system have made efforts to maintain the average income for employees at approximately approximately 12 million VND/person/month, in the parent company alone, the average income of employees is over 12 million VND/person/month. Therefore, with the relatively fierce labor market this year, in general, the units in the system of Hugoco remained stable and grew well in size.

Goals within reach

The Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (Vitas) said that textile and garment enterprises are entering the "race" to recruit workers, especially those with high skills and good design. Because now, businesses not only receive ordinary and cheap orders, but also high-class orders with complex requirements are also transferred to Vietnam by partners, thanks to good production and management capacity.

Appreciating the companionship and care for employees of the Trade Union system at all levels in order to stabilize more than 64,000 first-level employees of Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex) and 150,000 employees of the whole system, General Director Vinatex Cao Huu Hieu expressed, Trade unions at all levels and union members and employees will continue to strive and contribute more to the development of each unit in particular and Vinatex in general.

According to industry experts, in order to achieve an export turnover of 45-47 billion USD, in addition to the measures to take good care of workers that businesses are taking, measures to promote the "greening" of the industry are required. Luck is also an important factor. Because only when greening, the garment industry can develop stably and sustainably. Talking about this factor, Mr. Vu Duc Giang - President of Vitas said that the motivation for brands to come to the Vietnamese market is the programs of sustainable development, greening, digital governance, and circular economy in Vietnam. Vietnam. This is the solution to promote, stabilize and develop in Vietnam; especially encouraging textile enterprises to develop sales by design, creativity, and minimize processing for partners.

Economists also said that the shortage of orders is only a short-term difficulty. Once garment enterprises have stabilized production, abundant and skilled labor force, and at the same time ensured the "greening" factor for environmentally friendly and sustainable development, then surely Surely the export target of 45-47 billion USD in 2023 will be within reach.
