The textile and garment industry is expected to completely achieve or even exceed the target of export turnover of 43 billion USD this year.

However, according to experts, in 2022 as well as the coming years, the textile and garment industry still has many challenges: Transportation costs are 3 times higher than the average of the past 5 years; the disadvantage of exchange rate makes Vietnam's textile and garment less competitive against rivals; Labor imbalance, businesses in the South still lack workers, while this area accounts for about 40% of the total export turnover of the whole industry...

According to calculations of some businesses, raw materials imported from China still account for a large proportion, enterprises calculate that this year's price may increase by 5-8% compared to last year.

At the moment, many textile enterprises have orders until the third quarter of 2022, but it is not possible to predict the market after that because it depends a lot on the epidemic situation. In addition, according to experts, although the textile and garment market has prospered, many competitors of Vietnam's textile and apparel industry such as China, Bangladesh, India ... also accelerated and made many efforts to offset the loss of revenue. on turnover in 2021.

In addition, the European Commission (EC) has just proposed to apply a number of new ecological regulations for textiles and garments consumed in this market: requiring textiles to have a long lifespan, be reusable. usable and repairable. To achieve that standard, manufacturers must use recycled, non-toxic, environmentally friendly fibers... Most Vietnamese enterprises in the supply chain of the textile and garment industry process them for labels. Large customers have received the requirements of "greening" in production, such as implementing social and environmental responsibilities and reducing emissions.

Notably, according to Mr. Pham Tat Thang, Trade Research Institute (Ministry of Industry and Trade), the textile and garment industry needs to have an objective view in the transition from processing production to exporting made in Vietnam to improve the value of products. export.
