Scientific seminar Lean model in the context of digital transformation at Vietnamese garment enterprises

With the desire to share and disseminate the achieved results of the State-level scientific research project: “Research and propose lean application models for garment enterprises in the context of digital transformation. ”By Dr. Hoang Xuan Hiep - Rector, in the morning of October 28, 2020 at Hall 401- C5, Hanoi University of Textile Industry (HTU), a scientific seminar took place with the participation of of 100 garment enterprises in the North.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Dr. Hoang Xuan Hiep, on behalf of HTU, the research team sent deep thanks to the leaders of the units, representatives of enterprises, faculty members and students. members were present in the seminar. Dr. Hoang Xuan Hiep also shared his words with enterprises in the context of the world economy being severely affected by the Covid 19 pandemic. In less than a year, the world GDP has decreased by 4.5%, equivalent to about 4000 billion USD. in which the textile and garment industry has also been strongly affected, estimated to reduce the world demand by about 12.4% over the same period last year. Therefore, Vietnam's economy is quite affected, including the textile and garment industry. In the research topic, the research team also surveyed over 103 textile and garment enterprises and each enterprise has a very different production capacity. The problem posed for businesses, especially the current garment enterprises, is to conduct research to improve productivity and quality in enterprises. With the support of the General Department of Standards, Metrology and Quality, the Ministry of Science and Technology, HTU has been assigned a state-level research topic. Methodology and experience in implementing Lean model in the context of digital transformation in Vietnamese garment enterprises" , the  topic has also been applied and deployed in many enterprises within 6 months and achieved results. very good results. The research team hopes to apply this research to businesses to improve productivity, quality, and reduce production costs.

Also at the seminar, on behalf of the research team, comrade Chu Thi Mai Huong, deputy head of the Faculty of Garment Technology reported on the digital Lean application in the garment industry. In the report, comrade Mai Huong pointed out the current situation, solutions, and conditions for lean implementation in Vietnam's garment enterprises in the context of digital technology transformation. Accordingly, in order to deploy Lean in the context of converting to digital technology, garment enterprises need to prepare facilities, human resources and financial resources in accordance with special business conditions. especially human resources with skills such as the skill of using digital equipment, the skill of using English, the skill of using traditional Lean tools and the sense of compliance with regulations. , rules in lean implementations.
